About This Project

About this Project
Pullman High School Photography web site is part of Andrew Karpenko's culminating(senior) project at Pullman High School.

The requirements of the Senior Project are as follows:
1. The Proposal
2. The Project
3. The Research Paper (component of the Senior English class)
4. The Presentation (Senior Boards).

Students will do a project in the field of their choice (based on the guidelines outlined in the Culminating Project Manual) under the supervision of an approved mentor. The project phase can be started during the summer after their junior year if approved by the Culminating Project Coordinators. The research paper will be an integral part of the Senior English curriculum. Any student not enrolled in a Senior English class will need to meet the paper requirements due date listed on the Senior Project Schedule. All components of the Culminating Project are presented at Senior Boards, to a panel of judges, to complete the course requirements.

Project Proposal

Create an online class management system for the multimedia department at Pullman High School.
Project Plans - a semi-complete list of features

Culminating Project Overview

Restate the project.
Build a website in which a teacher can keep track of students' homework assignments, assign new ones, and submit critique regarding the homework assignments already turned in. Moreover, a system for keeping track of students' progress, and share and collect student' projects and organize them into a portfolio, will be implemented. Also a security system will be build to allow students to turn in homework, and access the entire system, from any computer in the world, specifically a student's home computer.

How will this Culminating Project extend your learning beyond your present experience and knowledge?
Focusing on the newly created Digital Photography class, my project will have to process images(photographs) and create a thumbnail and full quality image, as well as read image information to access data such as exposure, and the camera used. I will have to learn how to access such information and how to successfully process those images.

What background experience do you already have in the area of study?
I have successfully created many websites that allow for global access and security. Specifically I have created many algorithms that may be reused in my project, and make the process easier.

What is the "hands-on" part of your project, and how will you document your project time for judges?
The hands-on part of my project will include the writing of the computer code that powers the system, as well as meeting with a group of individuals, or seek other type of impersonal contact with them, to fix any errors or "bugs" that may come up in the software.

I will use state of the art time management applications to keep track of my hours.

Developer Team

Here is a list of people that helped me debug and improve the system. This list may not be complete.
